Avenol Cottage is situated in the magnificent
Dargle Valley in the heart of the Natal Midlands on a working beef and timber
farm.
Avenol has to be one of the most water-rich farms in the country, with springs,
mountain streams and waterfalls in abundance. There are 6 dams on the 750
hectare farm, all stocked with Rainbow trout. Avenol also boasts 3km of Umgeni
River frontage for those who are keen to try their hand at catching Brown trout
or Yellowtail. The gently rolling hills of Avenol are superb
for walks, mountain biking, bird watching, game viewing and picnics. For the
environmentally aware there is a fascinating selection of wild flowers and
indigenous trees to be enjoyed.
Cosy evenings around the fireplace are perfect for family games and quiet hours
of reading, with no telephones or TV to mar the night sounds of owls, jackal and
reed buck.
The cottage sleeps 6 comfortably and is well
equipped with microwave, wood stove, fridge, toaster and kettle. Braai
facilities are available on the patio, which overlooks a waterfall and bubbling
stream.
A maid services the cottage twice a day to ensure that Mom's get a rest too!
