The Boston Bulwer Community Tourism Association covers the area around these two villages on the R617, as well as the Upper Dargle. Located between the Midlands and the Southern Drakensberg, amidst rolling hills, lush forests and tranquil dams, this is an ideal getaway destination for those seeking peace and quiet and good country fare.

We are named Charles Thunderclap & co after our first jersey calf who was born on 14th November (Prince Charles' birthday) after a huge thunderstorm. He became Charles Thunderclap and all the rest of us - humans and animals alike - are the
"& co".
Our smallholding nestles at the base of the Nhlosane mountain range in the Dargle. We have a small bass dam and access to trout fishing on dams and rivers on nearby farms.
The birdlife is stunning - from the Cape vultures and black eagles that nest on the mountain to the Knysna Loeries and pearl-spotted owls that seasonally live in our garden.
Duiker, reed and bushbuck often visit to feed off the windfall in the orchard or drink at one of our streams.

Our farm animals are generally friendly and children are welcome to help with the milking (one cow!) and feeding.

The cottage has 2 double beds and a single in the bedroom and another double bed in the lounge. (The bed in the lounge is very popular because of its close proximity to the fireplace and TV). There is a large kitchen with full stove, fridge, deepfreeze etc. It also has its own fenced garden and we are happy to accommodate one or two well-behaved dogs.
There is a Weber Braai for outside cooking.

Horse riding is available at a farm just around the mountain and there are lovely mountain walks of varying degrees of difficulty. The Everglades Hotel (1km away) has recently opened a driving range and par 3 golf course. For the not-so-energetic, our beautiful parklike gardens provide the perfect spot for just goofing off.
