As well as the tranquility of our area, for the more active there is plenty to keep you occupied.
The fishing is fantastic, with both Rainbow and Brown Trout prolific. Birding is a popular pastime - as this area is the home to a wide variety of birds - including the endangered Blue Swallow and the Cape parrot.

Walking, hiking, rafting and mountain biking are popular pastimes; Bulwer, the paragliding and hang-gliding capital of South Africa, boasts two schools for those with more adventurous spirits.

Accommodation ranges from country hotels, guest houses and guest farms to self-catering cottages and welcoming bed and breakfast establishments.
Just over an hour's drive from Durban, the Boston Bulwer Beat is the ideal weekend getaway.

St. Michael's Church
Built alongside the main road to Bulwer and Impendle in 1882 with local handmade bricks. Later a vicarage was built close by for Rev.Freer, the first resident vicar. In 1995 the Anglican, Methodist and Presbyterian churches in Boston formed a United Church. The church was extended and the St. Michael's United Church was inaugurated on 23 January 1997. Situated on a leafy hill overlooking a beautiful valley, this church is well worth a visit. Services are held every Sunday at 09h30,except the third Sunday (11h00). All visitors are welcome.

Yellowwood Church
This historic and very beautiful church, built in 1885 for £25 is sited in the old Wagon Road which was the main road from Pietermaritzburg to Himeville. Built of hand sawn Yellowwood with a roof of corrugated iron, the church was renovated by Mondi in 1989. Church services still take place on the first Sunday of the month - all are welcome.
